Testing

Thank you parents for your support this week during testing week!! I am glad that the boys have been on time and seem focused.  Please make sure to have them in bed each night at an early time... Thanks.  Also, if you would allow your son to bring a simple memory game at school or to share a favorite coloring book that I can copy and share, it would be a huge help.  Once again I appreciate you and all you do.

It's time!

It's time for testing at CCSE!! Are you ready?  In order to help your son do his best on the test, please help me by getting him to bed early and ensuring he is ON TIME for school every day this coming week.   We will begin testing immediately and I don't want any of my students to miss out on any of the tests.  If you signed up to be a proctor, please come early so that you can get to the classroom right way.  If you can, a light healthy snack that he can share with others would be a great thing to send in to school...

Our boys are going to do very well on the SAT10.  I know that with Mrs. Chacon working very hard in reading and social studies and with me working very hard on math and science, your son should be very prepared to go "above and beyond" in the test.   Thanks for all of YOUR hard work and support this year.   I appreciate you!

I am a teacher...

I Am A Teacher

I am a counselor and psychologist to a problem-filled child,
I am a police officer that controls a child gone wild.
I am a travel agent scheduling our trips for the year,
I am a confidante that wipes a crying child's tear.
I am a banker collecting money for a ton of different things,
I am a librarian showing adventures that a storybook brings.
I am a custodian that has to clean certain little messes,
I am a psychic that learns to know all that everybody only guesses.
I am a photographer keeping pictures of a child's yearly growth,
When mother and father are gone for the day, I become both.
I am a doctor that detects when a child is feeling sick,
I am a politician that must know the laws and recognize a trick.
I am a party planner for holidays to celebrate with all,
I am a decorator of a room, filling every wall.
I am a news reporter updating on our nation's current events,
I am a detective solving small mysteries and ending all suspense.
I am a clown and comedian that makes the children laugh,
I am a dietician assuring they have lunch or from mine I give them half.
When we seem to stray from values, I become a preacher,
But I'm proud to have to be these people because ...
I'm proud to say, "I am a teacher."

Homework, math, Mondays

Hello parents,

I hope you had a great weekend!  I am thinking about my little class and the issue of homework!  I am trying to make sure for the rest of the school year, to staple into the journal any homework that the boys may have.  Hopefully this will ensure it gets home and can returned done!

Tomorrow we will be sending home Monday folders.  Thanks for your patience with me on this.  Mondays are a very busy day!  Spelling words will also be stapled in the agendas!

Thanks so much for your support! I look forward to seeing each of the boys in the morning, bright and early... :)

Friday treats and "punch cards"

The rest of the year we will have "punch cards" on our desks for behavior.  The boys have to earn 20 punches in order to come to the behavior party.  Last Friday we had popsicles and Game day! The boys who earned their "punches" got to go to the party.  They had a ball.  If you can donate any microwave popcorn or Little Debbie treats to use for future parties I would really appreciate it.  Also, juice boxes would be helpful as well! Thanks so much!

Oceans and floating eggs!

Today was a good day in the Critz classroom.  We had a fun science experiment where we made eggs float!  We discovered density and how that the ocean water is salty and more dense than fresh water.  We tested density by floating an egg in the salt water and then seeing the egg fall to the bottom of the fresh.  It was very interesting and hands on!

Ask your boys all about it!

Game day!

I am on the way to the store for popsicles! We earned a game day and popsicle party today.  Most boys have earned 20 "punches" and get to play games and relax in the afternoon!  If you see this and want to send a game for them to share, please do so!  Think board games... No video gaming systems... Thanks!! So happy and excited for my sweet boys.  Goodnight!

Let the science fun continue!

This next week our focus continues to be life cycles! We will be making lap books with the stages of the butterfly life cycle, creating flap books to illustrate the life cycle of a plant, and so much more!  Ask your child what they are learning in science...

"How does a seed grow into a plant?"

"Tell me about the life cycle of a frog..."

"How does a butterfly change from a caterpillar to a butterfly?"

Listen and guide them!

Thanks for all you do!

Treasures, treats and little things that are neat!

Please help our second grade class by sending in some treats and treasures.  I prefer small toys, erasers, cool pencils, anything to motivate my sweet boys to do their very best.  I look forward to rewarding the positive behaviors these next few weeks of school...

Thanks!

Hi there parents! I hope your weekend is relaxed and that the boys get out there and enjoy all this beautiful sunshine.  It's that time of year again.  We are going to be meeting for a third time regarding your son's progress and report card!  This coming Tuesday, March 20th, we will be having a teacher workday and much of the day will be devoted to parent conferences!  I will be sending home a schedule with a suggested meeting time for you to meet with me.  Please let me know right away if you need a different time by calling the school or my cell.  Thanks for all you do and for your support!  See you soon!

Sneezes, allergies, tissue

Hey there parents,

It's almost March.  With the warmer spring weather I expect lots of runny noses.  Our class is out of tissues.  Would you care to send a box of Kleenex or other brand tissue so that their little noses are spared the torture of paper towels?  Thanks so much.

Also, please let me know if they suffer from spring allergies. I will allow them to keep tissues with them at all times.  If you need them to take any medication for allergies, they may do so with a doctor's note and with the medication kept in the office.

Thanks again!!!

Monday Folders, spelling words, agendas

Please check your child's Monday folder today and return it signed, also, we will send home the new spelling list today.  I hope that each night the children are taking the time to study their words.  Agendas will be sent home tomorrow.  Look for all paperwork in the Monday folders as it will include some important information.  Thanks for your support!

The Aquarium

Thank you so much to the parents who came to the aquarium today to help out!  We had a great time! The boys had a ball exploring the habitats of fresh and salt water fish and animals.  It was fun to watch some of them react as they pet the sharks and stingrays.  Some of the boys got to feed shrimp to the stingrays!  They loved petting the sturgeon and every time we turned a corner and saw a shark, they were AMAZED.  I love teaching the second grade boys.  Every day is an adventure.  Thank you for sharing them with me.

Spelling, Monday folders, etc.

Parents,
Our spelling test for last week's words will be given today.  Friday was a very busy afternoon for our class.  We will be getting new spelling words today as well as taking home our Monday folders.

Please make sure to review each paper in the Monday folder with your child and praise them for the good grades they receive as well as look closely at the papers they struggled with.   Thank you for your support.

If you did not get to meet with me regarding your child's report card, please call the school to schedule a conference.  I am available after school any day to meet with you but would like to plan in advance.

Thank you again for your support.
